News and Events
Congratulations to the following Singapore films that are making waves in the international arena:
- “Sandcastle” by Boo Junfeng – selected for the 49th International Critics’ Week at Cannes International Film Festival 2010;
- “Red Dragonflies” by Liao Jiekai – winner of the Special Jury Prize at the Jeonju International Film Festival; selected for competition for the Asia New Talent Award at the 13th Shanghai International Film Festival;
- Also screening at the Shanghai International Film Festival – Glen Goei’s “The Blue Mansion” (selected for Asia New Talent Award), Jack Neo’s “Being Human”, and “Cooking Without Clothes” by Jean Yeo;
- “Promises in December” by Elgin Ho – winner of the Silver Screen Awards for Best Short Film and Best Director at the recent Singapore International Film Festival 2010.

In Production
Han Yew Kwang, director of “18 Grams of Love” is currently working on his second feature film, “When Hainan Meets Teo Chew” (当海南遇上潮州), an unromantic quirky comedy. The shoot began in September last year and with a limited budget and hectic schedule, they gradually completed production and now they are in the post-production. The film is set to release at the later part of 2010. Please visit here to read more on their updates.
Funding Schemes and Facilitation
The SFC has been supporting the local film industry since 1998 with funding programmes such as the Short Film Grant, Script Development Grant/Programme, 35mm Fulfilment Fund and the New Feature Film Fund.
