Our Sister Hedy 四千金

One of the brightest Mandarin comedies of the 1950s, Our Sister Hedy is named Best Picture at the 5th Asian Film Festival in 1958. Two of the main actresses in the movie, Ye Feng (Julie Yeh Feng) the eternal siren and Lin Cui (Jeanette) the tomboyish little sister shoot to stardom and enjoy great popularity over the years. Lei Zhen and Chen Hou share similar limelight in this comedy with their impressive performances.

The story revolves around four vivacious sisters, particularly second sister Helen the sex siren and third sister Hedy the tomboy. Not surprisingly, the course of true love never runs too smoothly, with sultry Helen charming every man in her path including her sisters’ beaux. The conflicts amongst the sisters generate much vivacity and tension to the dramatic brilliance of the picture.

 Air Hostess 空中小姐

Shot in an era when air travel had just started to become popular in Asia and being an air hostess promised much glamour and opportunities for a better life, this is a comedy and romantic drama which follows the lives of three air stewardesses through air hostess school, on-the-job adventures and search for husbands. Audiences will be charmed by scenes of different Asian cities in the late fifties as well as some memorable musical numbers from the ever vivacious Ge Lan.

Sumpah Pontianak (Curse of the Vampire)

Comel was cursed to be a Pontianak and has a nail hammered into her neck by the villagers to render her powerless. She manages to escape with the help of her daughter, Maria. Later, Comel risks her life and unhooks the nail in her neck so that she could have her power back to rescue Maria.
