Channel NewsAsia HD Programmes Go Global

Slate of programmes screened at MIPTV has been signed up by independent distributors.

Some 17 hours of Channel NewsAsia's latest high-definition programmes will soon be seen by audiences worldwide, after they were signed up for international distribution by independent distributors at the MIPTV trade show this week.

The programmes, which include Rivers of Our Time, a documentary on rivers in Asia, were screened at the annual entertainment content trade show in Cannes, France. International distributors Looking Glass International, Electric Sky and ID Distribution will bring the programmes to the international stage.

Mr Woon Chuk Chan, Vice President of Network Programming and Promotions of Channel NewsAsia, said: "There are many interesting facets of life in Asia which have yet to be told, and this raft of programmes picks out just some aspects of the unique lifestyle and culture that is Asia."

Dr Christopher Chia, Chief Executive Officer of the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), said: "Besides showcasing the rich possibilities of Asia through food, culture, travel and design, the slate of stories underscores two strengths of Singapore production capabilities – our commitment to High Definition productions and success in factual programming."

These titles are supported by the MDA and produced by various Singapore independent producers for MediaCorp NewsAsia.
