The Celebration of Filmed Entertainment Begins

The inaugural edition of ScreenSingapore opened yesterday to much excitement and anticipation.

From now until Sunday, the international film convention hosted by the Media Development Authority (MDA) will set the Lion City abuzz with a host of programmes celebrating filmed entertainment.

Over 700 trade delegates have registered for ScreenSingapore. Buyers, cinema operators and service providers will be striking deals at the trade exhibition Expo@ScreenSingapore while major Hollywood studios will be making closed-door presentations of their upcoming releases to Asia Pacific exhibitors.

Stars and Fans at ScreenSingapore’s Opening Red Carpet Gala Premiere

Fans thronged the red carpet event of ScreenSingapore’s opening gala premiere to catch glimpses of Zhang Ziyi and other international stars.

Walking the red carpet at Golden Village VivoCity, the ScreenSingapore Ambassador and star of box-office hits such as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Memoirs of a Geisha waved to her fans and posed for pictures.

Joining Zhang Ziyi on the red carpet was Zhang Qi, the director of the opening film The Devil Inside Me. The film, starring Tony Leung Ka-Fai (Detective Dee) and Kelly Lin (Reign of Assassins), tells the story of a doctor whose bizarre personal relationships lead him to violent extremes.
