News and notes from MIPCOM: 6 October 2009
Cross-media projects will be awarded up to US$30,000 each, in a new round of funding aimed at encouraging Singapore and Western Australian producers to jointly co-develop new concepts with multi-platform elements.
This financial support, announced at the ongoing MIPCOM show at Cannes this week, marks the second time producers will benefit from the Media Development Authority-ScreenWest Cross-Media Development plan that was first unveiled last year.
The funding – up to three projects will be selected – will be shared equally between the Singaporean and Western Australian co-production partners, said the MDA and ScreenWest, Western Australia's screen funding and development agency.
This year, producers in Singapore and Western Australia are invited to jointly submit proposals in three genres: Children’s Series (including Animation), Documentary Series, and Factual or Factual Entertainment Series.
Last year, two projects received a grant of up to US$30,000 each in development funding: Off the Wall from ZAC Toons (Western Australia) and Scrawl Studios (Singapore); and Borders – Life on the Edge by Artemis International (Western Australia) and Threesixzero Productions (Singapore). Off the Wall makes its debut at this year’s MIPCOM.
