August Media and Classic Media Sign US$60 Million Production Deal for 10 Television Series

As many as 10 television series worth up to US$60 million in production investment will be developed and produced by Singapore’s August Media Holdings in partnership with global media company Classic Media.

August Media, an integrated media company producing, financing and distributing live-action, animated and online content, made the announcement at MIPCOM.

The series will be based on classic American children’s properties from the catalogue of Classic Media, one of the world’s largest independent entertainment companies.

On the back of this agreement, August Media has engaged Singapore’s Scrawl Studios to serve as co-producer for three of the animation properties worth a total of US$18 million.

New Initiatives Lift Singapore’s Stereoscopic 3D Capability

Television viewers will soon be able to see Asian wildlife in stereoscopic 3D glory, thanks to a collaboration between Singapore and German companies.

Singapore’s Oak3 Films will shoot a special episode of a six-part high-definition series on Asia’s remote national parks in stereoscopic 3D. It will be one of the world’s first on television to combine the excitement of stereoscopic 3D and the thrills of wildlife.

Wanted: More Singapore-Australia Cross-Media Projects

Fresh funding has been added to the pot for Singapore and Western Australian production companies seeking to co-develop cross-media projects involving digital media.

The Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) and ScreenWest, Western Australia's screen funding and development agency, announced on Tuesday the third call for proposals for the MDA-ScreenWest Cross Media Development Initiative.
