Warm Friendships Underlie Strong Brunei-Singapore Partnership

Besides sharing a history of cooperation in the media industry, Singapore and Brunei media authorities and content providers also enjoy a warm camaraderie. Producers from both countries have even established an annual friendly soccer match, noted Mr Chan Yeng Kit, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts, Singapore.

He was speaking at the 19th Joint Technical Committee (JTC) Meeting on cooperation in the field of broadcasting between Brunei and Singapore.

Vital to Promote Intellectual Property Protection

The key to stimulating Singapore’s media industry lies not just in providing grants or funds and nurturing creativity, but also in stimulating the industry as a whole. And this includes promoting intellectual property rights, said Mr Kenneth Tan, Chief Operating Officer of the Media Development Authority.

He called the plan to establish the Asia Pacific WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation) Arbitration and Mediation Centre in Singapore a timely move.

Creative Pairings Get the Push at AMF Country Showcase

The opportunities and incentives that exist in international co-productions were topmost on the minds of participants who attended this year’s AMF 2009 Country Showcase, which returned for the third year at the Asia Media Festival.

Organised by the Media Development Authority, the half-day seminar gathered together several of Singapore’s key partner countries in media collaborations.
