Singapore Hosts China Film Festival

The 2011 China Film Festival, a five-day co-located event of ScreenSingapore, opened on Monday with the critically acclaimed Deep in the Clouds, a love story set in a Lisu village.

The film festival is organised by the Media Development Authority of Singapore and supported by the Film Bureau under China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. It is aimed at promoting film exchanges between the two countries, which signed a film co-production treaty last year.

New Singapore-China Collaboration Unveiled

Singapore film company Homerun Asia announced on Tuesday its partnership with Chinese media company Zonbo Media to produce a lineup of movies.

In the next three years, the two companies will together invest in at least five commercial Asian films, starting with 1965 and Dangerous Liaisons.

The announcement was made at ScreenSingapore, the film convention hosted by the Media Development Authority of Singapore.

Filmmakers Connect at Business-Matching Breakfast

Some 60 Singapore and international filmmakers and producers had the opportunity to discuss film projects and exchange ideas at an animated business-matching breakfast yesterday.

The breakfast, held at Capella Singapore, was hosted by the Media Development Authority of Singapore as part of ScreenSingapore.

"We wanted an event where international producers could meet local talents in an intimate setting." said Ms Wahyuni A Hadi, a partner at Objectifs, the organiser of the event.
