Wanted: Singapore’s Best Film Directors
The search for Singapore’s newest film directing talents is now in full swing, following the closure of applications for Project Pitching and Development with Ashok (Project PDA) on 31 July. Selected contestants will get a chance to work with Ashok Amritraj, renowned producer and Hyde Park Entertainment’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Amritraj will host Project PDA, where contestants will pitch their best film concepts to a panel of judges, who will include Mr Amritraj and leading Singapore filmmakers. The contestants will also compete with one another on challenging tasks.
Supported by the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), the competition will be filmed by Singapore’s national broadcaster MediaCorp and telecast as a four-part TV series on MediaCorp’s okto channel later this year.
The golden prize will be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to learn the ropes of film-making on a three-month internship at the Hyde Park Group, under MDA’s Media Training and Attachment (META) Programme. The winner also stands the chance of having his movie co-financed by MDA and distributed worldwide by Hyde Park.

New Deals for Dinosaur Train
Hit animated preschool series Dinosaur Train, a co-production between Singapore’s Sparky Animation and The Jim Henson Company, has scored a long string of new deals, from Europe to the Middle East.
The 40-part series was licensed to terrestrial, cable and satellite TV stations in France, Sweden, Finland, Ireland, Italy and Portugal, to name a few. In the Middle East, the series was also sold to cable broadcasters in the United Arab Emirates and Israel. A number of home entertainment agreements were also sealed.
The series, featuring a preschool-age Tyrannosaurus Rex named Buddy, celebrates the fascination that preschoolers have with both dinosaurs and trains. Since the programme was launched, it has won several accolades, such as being listed as one of the Best New Kids’ Shows for 2009 by People magazine in the US.
ASEAN Computer Game Launched
Those looking to find out more about the ASEAN region while having fun at the same time can try a new game called ASEAN Chronicles: The Legend of the Golden Talisman.
